Origami Dolls

A few years back I made a bunch of the adorable origami dolls for a special order and they were also a pretty big hit. I sold them for $2 at the time although now I realize that I was waaaay undercharging. Each doll is made with washi paper, not cheap, and it takes quite a while to make one even when I do them in batches. I made 2 dozen tonight in about 4.5 hours. I have no idea what drove me to do this. But they do make great bookmarks and gifts.

So anyway I guess these will be at the next show. Or perhaps I'll keep them for myself... no idea yet.

Like em? You can make them for yourself! I used the tutorial provided by Kimono Reincarnate with a few minor adjustments. You should check it out. I played around quite a bit with the hairstyles since I used black card stock. It was much easier to make different shapes.

Recent Etsy Favorites

You know, I've never shared any of my fave items from Etsy. I don't really add too much to the collection but once it a while something awesome or hilarious catches my eye. Just wanted to share. Click the image to be taken to my faves page :)

Tomorrow I will be picking up my second batch of bookmarks (last batch before KawaKon). Also be picking up my notebook covers! I'll post eventually although I realize I never even posted the first set. Oh well. I'm a busy girl. Sorta.

Princess Progress and Other News

Finally had some time to draw a few more things. I'm trying to wrap up some batches of chibi drawings for my bookmarks in time for KawaKon. Currently working on Disney's princesses. I'm sorta picking and choosing because there's so much technical stuff like Mulan isn't really a princess and neither is Malificent so maybe it's more like awesome Disney ladies. Hey wanna know something funny? Leia is technically a Disney princess now. Think about it.

Oh I redid the background for this blog. Figured it should match my cards, FB, Etsy, etc. I'm working on it to make the visibility better but haven't spent much time on it just yet.

So anyways, here are the princesses so far:
I've still got Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White, Anastasia, Mulan, and Malificent to do.
Future character works will include:
  • Batman, Robin, Harley, Poison Ivy, Catwoman
  • Princess Serenity, Luna & Artemis
  • Walking Dead cast
  • Firefly cast
  • Star Wars: Rex, Ahsoka, Riyo Chuchi, Selene, Obi Wan, Anakin, Asajj, etc. Mostly clone wars characters.

In the meantime I'll also be redrawing some of my oldies like this one:
That's all the updates for now. :)

Happy New Year... Late

And again I'm super late on posting anything. I have been working overtime since Christmas and haven't been able to keep up with anything aside from orders and work. My job should be done soon, within the next week or so, and I'll be back to updates and posts. For example, I have a review of the We R Memory Keepers Cinch and Cinch v2 to upload, as well as some doll updates from Christmas. But let's start with the oldest first!

For Christmas I got my best friend the most hipster thing I could think of: mustaches. I themed her Christmas gifts after the Like A Sir meme because she is oh so fancy herself.

Yup, drew the card and everything. It's the Christmas Like A Sir Do It Yourself Kit. Complete with plush wearable mustache, mustache ring, monocle, and champagne hand soap. :D I felt bad because money was so tight this year so I figured I would at least make it fun. Goodness the excitement at the sight of the monocle was fantastic. In exchange I got...

Frankie Stein! Totally didn't see it coming. I've been wanting a Monster High doll for a long long long time but never dropped the money to pick up any of them. I already have Thalia there on the left and more mini Lalaloopsies than I care to let on but OH MY GOD I was so excited to finally have Frankie. I love her and fortunately for me, I don't care for any other MH dolls other than Lagoona Blue so my wallet is relatively safe for now. ^_^

What? You want something art related? Fine fine. Here's an update on the progress of my Deathless drawing. I uploaded the phase one sketch in a previous post but man I have put in some hours...

It's not done yet, but I'm getting closer. I'd like to put more depth into the background and finish up some of the electronic components but yay progress!
